Chad M. Dunn grounds his practice in several years of professional and legal experience working for, and then representing, insurers and their insureds. Prior to law school, Chad moved through the ranks of two national multi-line insurers where he developed“Integral to a long-term, beneficial relationship is helping a client understand not only the end result, but also how and why.” valuable knowledge of insurance coverage, claims handling, and negotiation. After law school, Chad practiced with a Raleigh firm specializing in insurance defense law where he defended individuals and insurers in North Carolina Superior, District, and Small Claims Courts in numerous counties throughout the state. Concurrent with his insurance defense practice, Chad also developed expertise in landlord-tenant and multi-family housing law.
Chad now proudly joins HSLC as Of Counsel where he continues to represent individual and corporate clients. Chad focuses his practice on providing legal services to landlords in all aspects of residential and commercial landlord-tenant matters, lease and contract negotiation and review, and the education of landlords and property management firms on the ever-changing landscape of Fair Housing and other laws affecting providers of multi-family housing. Chad also represents individuals and community associations in HOA and community association law as well as those involved in real estate disputes (excluding closings). Additionally, Chad is always ready to assist individuals in need of quality legal representation when they have been harmed through the negligence of others. With over eight years of experience either working for or representing insurers, Chad is expertly versed in the handling of insurance claims and brings an “insider’s view” to his selective personal injury practice.
Originally from the Old Dominion, Chad earned his law degree from Washington & Lee University and his bachelor’s degree from James Madison University. Chad is married to a native North Carolinian and together they are the proud parents of two energetic young daughters. When not in the office or with clients, you can usually find Chad with his family at any one of the excellent parks and trails around Raleigh, at the Harker’s Island coast, or headed west to the North Carolina mountains.
